WB -
Jeebuz, I'm glad I don't live in the hill action. I'm just feeling retarded because I haven't had to deal with this for such a long time. Living in Southern Cal can really spoil a girl. On the plus side, when J & I came back from dinner tonight, we saw a snow plow going through our complex. On the downside, the plowed some more snow behind my Explorer, meaning that there's a bunch of work to do tomorrow. Which brings up my next troubling subject: I'm not so sure what's up with kitteh. I know he's been a little more nervous in this new setting after over a year of being in shelters, but he's been snippy and loving, which is a strange combination. I've attributed it to being nervous, but then today he started shaking his head. I noticed yesterday that something seemed up, but didn't give it any thought and figured it might be dirt from our shoes since he sometimes rolls on the mat just inside the door. This evening when we came home, I realized he had a blob of old blood at the bottom of his outer ear. I'm not sure what's up, but the way he's acting, I'm calling the vet's office we adopted him out of. Hopefully they'll give us a break if its an infection since it's been only a day since we got him, but in either case, I'm not looking forward to driving in this snow. The morning news shows featured all the cars that had gone off the road due to the slippery conditions. Oh, and last night I busted my ass while I was just trying to look at my car. I'm so sore tonight! So yeah, I've got a drink in hand. *sigh*

I'll be joining you in the drinkies department here in a sec.
![]() Eric is optimistically putting the garbage out. I hope they do come to get it- they will create a path for escape. It would be funny if one of those big rigs got stuck, though. The city would have to send plows to the rescue. (Forgot to add that I hope kitty is doing alright! It could be allergies- he might be digging at his ears because the skin itches or something. Samwise is sweet/evil all the time, btw- he'll be gnawing your arm off one second and the next giving you a bath.) |

Ugh. Today I earned my paycheck, for sure. No drink needed, just a quiet home and a LoT check.

My volunteer group met tonight at the police department (we meet monthly) but only a few of us showed. The captain is out of town, and nobody else came. It's not our usual night, so maybe people forgot. Whatever. I need to email the captain and give him the run-down; we talked about a few things but we don't have a quorum so we can't have a real meeting. We shot the **** for an hour and a half. I leave the meeting room, and a woman pulls up in a car, kid in the front seat wearing a sullen expression. She asks if I work here (no) but she wants a deputy. I know there's a phone at the door that goes to dispatch, so I offer to walk her over. Another of the guys comes out of our meeting room, and he has sheriff dispatch on speed dial so he calls them himself. Mom's still trying to talk sense to the kid (not working). Deputy comes from the station to talk to him until the guys dispatched get there.
Kid's dad is here; parents are divorced, dad wants them to arrest him, mom wants them not to arrest him. It's not gonna happen, anyway. They don't arrest kids for simply being under the influence and underage. Mom left with him in the end. We don't usually get this stuff happening. The four of us from the meeting stood around talking in the parking lot for a while. One of the guys had left his car door open so I waited to see if his car started before I left. It was definitely an odd night.

So...
For some reason our hardwood floors are becoming more and more slippery and we have no idea why. I think I may need to read some Murakami.

Well, if that's what keeps you from walking on them that just may work.

Hehe, there was one spot I kept slipping in on NYE, and it wasn't wet. Someone else confirmed for me that it was super slippery for seemingly no reason, so it wasn't just because the Tang punch was so good.

HI!
|
No, they are slippery in the living room by the dining room arch. But, they have started getting slippery in other parts of the house. It's odd. Thurston is having problems walking around.
