I also vote to dispense with them once the show has aired.

I'm a little worried about the flash-forwards.
Last year there was a show called The Nine that had a bank robbery in episode 1 that we saw begin and end without seeing any of the events, but these "missing" events had a dramatic effect on the people involved. So the question there was "what happened?" Each episode we would be treated with flashbacks to the robbery and learn a little bit more information to answer the question. I liked the actors, the characters, and the story, but I couldn't stand being strung along and finally dropped the show before it even got the ax from the network. Lost has been somewhat similar, but also very different in one important factor. In The Nine, I (the audience) was the only one left clueless. The characters knew exactly what happened to them so there was nothing for them to discover. In Lost the characters have been just as clueless as me. So instead of feeling strung along I feel like I'm part of the group, discovering new information along with the castaways or sometimes even before. But if we're going to be getting flash-forwards now instead of flashbacks I'm concerned that it's going to have the same problem as The Nine. |
