OMG this idea is amazing.

But just admit it- you just don't wanna travel out to CO for the wedding
Why don't you take a photo of yourself wearing the $17 dollar dress and make an iron-on transfer of it. Then wear the t-shirt in the park with your ears. They can stop you from wearing a wedding dress, but they can't stop you from wearing a picture of one!

Mine was an assembly-line wedding, I guess, at Excalibur. We had a half hour time slot; everybody in, sign the papers, say your bit, take some pics, and we were done! They provided the flowers, had the traditional bride march music, had a videographer/photog, and we got the higher package which included a night's stay, dinner, breakfast, and a bottle of champagne and two glasses. I think they were going for the Merlin look with the minister, but he ended up looking more like Wolfman Jack in a purple robe. I was quite amused.

Advantage of Vegas- marriage license easy to get and cheap; you can do last-minute planning for a lot of locations, and it's easy for people to get to. Lots of hotel rooms.

Disadvantages- some people think tacky when they think Vegas, and may not come to the wedding. It doesn't have to be tacky unless you want it to be.

We looked at an Elvis wedding but it was too much to deal with at the time. They have the chapel, you get two hula girls or showgirls, Elvis sings two songs, and it's broadcast on the internet during the ceremony and is available for... a month afterwards. They'll pick you up from your hotel in a pink Cadillac. I don't have the brochure anymore but it was on the Stratosphere end of the Strip I think.

We got married in Vegas exactly two years ago today! It was the easiest thing in the world -- we brought along two friends who wanted to go anyway, and were happy to stand up for us (we didn't want strangers) -- and we just took a cab to the licensing bureau from our hotel. After the 10 minutes or so to get the license we just jumped into the nearest limo (all these wedding chapel companies lurk at the bureau hawking their packages) and they took care of everything. Easy-peasy. We spent more on silly totchkes at the chapel (gotta get the tacky tee-shirt, right?) than we did on the wedding. Oh, and we told the Hilton at check-in that we were in Vegas to get married and they knocked $100 off the bill and upgraded us to a huge suite, and sent up a nice basket of goodies!

It was great fun, and there was no stress...

Now, I'm going out to a nice restaurant for an Anniversary dinner!

Which they demolished and the site is now home to condos.

My first wedding was in the exact same place. I think that's why it is now demolished.

He loves the idea-

My only hesitation is this- in Vegas we were going to have no guests. My kids will be there- but no one else. No family etc. If we do the POTC thing *MY* friends will be there- some of my BEST friends will be there- and MY kids- but no one who knows him and no family.

We are planning a party/reception later in the year- a much lower stress situation.

That sticks in my craw a bit- you know? But it sounds like such fun and he likes the idea- so......

Not to be a downer/buzzkill but be aware that if you have it in Disney, security can and probably will stop you.

I was researching a guerrilla wedding a few years ago and the overall feel I got was they will be nice, but they will stop the proceedings.

If you can do it in a way that they won't find out (Pirates with a full boat), go for it! How cool would it be to do I DOOOOOOOOO down the 2nd drop?

Yeah, I have to second that. When Frodo Potter proposed to Disneyphile, security was all over the situation making sure that it wasn't a wedding. They were polite, but I did have to explain to more than one that it was only a proposal.

That would be a quick wedding. Start the majority of it once you get past the loading area (out of earshot of CM's) and ask the question just before that drop.

But myself, I guess I am a bit of a romantic. I would want the wedding to be something more meaningful with my partner than being about a rush-rush sneaky thing in a theme park; especially since he is not as big of a fan as you (if at all). I say stick with one of the non-cheesy options in Vegas.

And I wonder if I am the only make who is in favor of a big wedding: I want to celebrate such a milestone in our lives with a lot of people. Not to the point of going deep in debt, but I would have preferred something more than what did ($ was the issue - we had a great party planned for about 200 people).

I had no clue so many swankers had Vegas weddings. If I offended anyone, I'm sorry. I'm a traditionalist and I know that what made my wedding day "perfect" would probably be some level of hell for someone else. Whatever works!
