(and no, I didn't make that up! )
Combine this with Lilly Belle's going through her ackward adolescent stage in a small apartment, it's very entertaining.

So far, Markus seems better. I had a hard time falling asleep last night with him doing his "open the cupboards" trick, and kept worrying about him getting in there, knocking out all the glasses, cutting himself, and having a bunch of broken glass and an injured kitty. I finally resigned myself to sleep once the cat started simmering down, but it wasn't an easy sleep.

So, should I start getting the childproof thing-a-ma-jigs for the cupboards, or what? I'm wondering if that would be against property rules, or if there's an easily detachable version of these things. I've never had to look into one before, nevermind for a cat.

Oh, I take back calm kitteh. He's going NUTS outside the office right now. Oy.

If you are talking about cupboards with two knobs, there is an easy solution, you can use rubber bands or buy kid proof ones. My cats enjoyed the rubber bands too much and made it a game. Most of our cupboards have two knobs so we bought kid prooflocks that don't damage them. Otherwise you have to screw them into place

I have no idea what to do about the freezer though. I have never heard of a cat thet can help themselves to anything in the freezer! A very resourceful cat you have there. Maybe you should train him for commercials!!

E - you can use velcro strips for the freezer and fridge. That's basically what the kid proof things are.

We don't have knobs, but I'm betting the velcro could help us out with some of it, especially since most of that stuff comes up pretty nicely.

The freezer thing hasn't happened since, and I'm hoping it was a fluke from jumping off the fridge. Haha.

He is a goofy cat.

Thanks, everyone, for all the advice! I feel like I'm not going quite so crazy.

I just applied for a freelance editing job with CBS. It was on one of the main job boards, so the competition will be stiff, but who knows... maybe I'll get lucky.

We had little plastic hooky things that screwed onto the inside of the cabinet doors when my brother was a baby. They let you open the door just enough to stick your finger in and release the hook. Also very good for earthquakes, no more contents of cabinets on kitchen floors!

Found 'em!

Cabinet and Drawer Latches by Safety 1st (12 Pack), $3.49 a 12-pack!

Another option would be to super glue Markus's paws to the floor.
