But that's just me. I actually had a dream about Spain last night, but I think it's because someone was mentioning it on some show last night. *sigh*

So... I'm taking the day off and just blowing off about 3 weeks of steam by playing Guitar Hero Rocks the 80's. It's good to have a bit of distracting fun.

Latest on my mom: It's been discussed by several doctors that surgically removing the blockage now can be fatal, because of belly fat that is compressed around it. She must lose weight and become more active before she can handle the surgery. So, in the meantime, they're giving her a colostomy, and she will have to remain bagged for at least 6 months while she gets her weight down. They've flat out told her that she can live the rest of her life with that bag, so losing the weight is up to her. They've also told her that she shouldn't put it off, because they still need to remove the mass to do a more thorough biopsy, because two of the doctors feel it's a cancer reoccurrence. The procedure should be done in the next day, and she'll be released later this week. IMHO, losing weight is a hell of a lot less inconvenient than toting around a crap bag for the rest of one's life. I hope my mother will think about that concept. As always, parents teach us some very valuable life lessons. And, this is yet another big one on why to eat properly and get some exercise on a daily basis. Er, thanks mom, for the added boost to remind me to be more active, and that no junk food can taste better than not having to go through life with a crap bag. I'm relieved to have her around still, but worried that she won't bother with keeping herself around, because she's one of the most stubborn people I know, especially when it comes to matters of food and health. And, I'm mad, knowing that this is just going to continue to spiral downward because of that stubbornness. I feel like I'll never get a break from wondering what's going to happen next. If anything, please keep her in your prayers for some guidance and clarity. That's what will truly turn her life around. |

I know a bit about the bag, stomas, etc, and I'll be keeping her in my thoughts. The biggest thing will be keeping her motivated. It's a huge quality of life issue... While I don't really know anything about her, and even less about her day-to-day life, having a stoma/colostomy makes a huge impact, both physically and emotionally. While it saves her system and can be lived with indefinitely, psychologically it can become difficult to bear. I'll be keeping her in my thoughts, and you as well, for it'll be up to her family and friends to keep her motivated, to get that weight off, and to get truly better. No giving up! ![]()

Well, they did the procedure. She started to come out of it, and her blood pressure dropped to critical levels. She's on her way for an emergency CT scan now, because the doctors say their might be internal bleeding.

Um, can someone please stop the ride? I'd like to get off now. This isn't a rollercoaster of emotions, it's the DCA of emotions. ![]() |

Holding my breath, too, hon. And sending good thoughts to your mom.

Sure your mom can live with the bag for the rest of her life, but I certainly hope she doesn't want to. They're not particularly convenient nor fun.
