Wow - it's 2 for 2 in the dead pool. Is there something in the water?Such a loss of another talent.

Oscar-winning director Anthony Minghella, who turned such literary works as "The English Patient," "The Talented Mr. Ripley" and "Cold Mountain" into acclaimed movies, died this morning in a London hospital of complications from recent cancer surgery, his spokeswoman said. He was 54.

Ok, I HATED The English Patient. I wish I would have followed my instinct and walked out on it. I can't believe it won Best Picture.


On the other hand, The Talented Mr. Ripley is an underappreciated work of compete genius.


Cold Mountain? Pretty much meh, but some good performances - especially in supporting, character and cameo roles.

Yeah, well. I would have bailed, but I stayed. Kept trying to figure out why anyone would cheat on Colin Firth.
