I am kidnapping my mom on the Saturday before Mother's Day and taking her with us to the LA Zoo. She is totally excited about going. It is really neat that she enjoys going on road trips with us.

A dream I had last night prominently featured the song "I Don't Wanna Fall in Love" by Jane Child. Don't know why. Haven't heard that song since it was on the radio a long, long time ago.

Rack up a +1 for living on the Bitter East Coast.

Generally we don't get EATEN ALIVE like you SoCal'ers apparently do.

So now in addition to the standard rule of beach safety:

"If tide suddenly goes out, don't go pickup the fish. Run away. "

We can add a new one:

"If Seals or Sea Lions suddenly beach themselves, it's probably best that you do too."

Wasn't the "shark attack" media panic a few years ago mostly driven by attacks on the East Coast?

Perhaps, but shark attacks here in DC are rather uncommon.

That's true. But even in SoCal shark attacks are also pretty rare in the parts that don't touch the ocean. Unless you live in San Jose, in which case they have Shark Attacks!TM.
