I Floop the Pig

They released on purpose. It happened exactly when the song ended, and Roger Waters looked at it flying away and said, "That's my pig." Also, and € can confirm this, I believe they did the same thing recently at a festival in England somewhere. This was no accident and the quotes from the linked article, such as "It's a very emotional time for us," are the promoters just having some fun with it.

I Floop the Pig

Just saw a news report and it may be that the promoters aren't "just having fun with it" but are covering their butts. But there is still no doubt in my mind that the pig was released on purpose.

HI!

No, that pig was meant to be released. Covering their butts with 4 lifetime passes to Coachella is a LOT cheaper than FAA fines, I'm sure. And, first, the pig must be found.

Yeah, the intermission following the release and allowing the audience to watch it's ascent hardly seemed to have any "oh my god the pig got away" pandemonium. And of course the rumors of the pig and whether or not it would be released - had me already saying - "cool the pig, that's what I wanted to see - wonder if they'll release him?"

Okay, I guess I was just hoping that someone wasn't stupid enough to endanger people for the sake of art.
"Oh, it's really cool to watch the giant pig float away. Who cares if it drifts in front of a jet airplane and kills 100 people." Yes, the chances of that happening are small, but I still think it is a stupid stunt.

This country has become far too risk adverse for my taste at the moment. The more the government (at all levels) is used to moderate behavior in the name of safety the more suckie things become. I'll take the risk of the occasional flying pig. Stuff the FAA.
