What vet did you take her to? First of all, she needs the leg x-rayed to see how bad the damage is. It may be something that can be repaired with surgery. My vet had a wonderful orthopedic doctor that did Charles' surgery with great results. Secondly, if she has been living with a badly healed leg for this long, it doesn't seem like it is something that must be done pronto. Do a little more exploration first before you decide what to do.
Dogs do do well with amputation, so that is a last ditch option that is possible. |
