| Kink of Swank | I didn't think of it at the time those old timers claimed there were riverside sites at Sentinel ... but a bunch of us walked back to camp along the river all the way from the Ranger Station thru Sentinel Campground, and I didn't see any campsites along the river. 10, 11 and 12 are the only ones on earth. |

				            | Nope, it is, in fact, perfectly acceptable to lounge at Camp Swank (although the waterfalls are worth the occasional 1/4 mile hike) Speaking of which, I stopped by Grizzly Falls on the way home. What a delight. You can almost see the falls from the parking lot, they're so close. And spectacular.

				            | It's an ok waterfall (of the three waterfalls I got up close with -- Mist, Roaring River, Grizzly, it is by far the least of them). Part of me feels like it needs to be better if it is only going to be 8 feet off the road. But it was nice to stop there n the drive in since, at 6 a.m., I had it all to myself. Here's a picture: Spoiler: |

| Kink of Swank | Then they're not in Sentinel. The other direction from our sites is all Sheep Creek. The other direction from the Ranger station is Canyon View and then Morraine. And of course you don't have to leave Swank Camp to experience bliss. But that's not necessarily true of a cabin, and not even likely true of last year's Swank Camp location. Still, Swank Camp is a state of mind, and I don't mean to suggest otherwise. There, is that sappy enough? |
