I rarely go to the doctor. (And I mean rarely. I waited out walking pneumonia for several months this winter.) But I won't mess with strep. It can actually go to your heart and make you very very sick. A simple way to help you know if you have it is to have someone look at the back of your throat with a flashlight. If there are little white dots, it's strep. If there aren't, well, it could probably still be strep. Take TONS of vitamin C. TONS. It will help. Let us know what the doc says!

HI!
|
I remember my former SIL giving me a Mustard Poultice when I had a bad sore throat. She was convinced that this would draw out all of the poisions and help me heal. She applied it to my neck and I remember it hurting like HELL after a while. Somehow, I think it helped - or maybe it was just time.
My family was big on home/holistic remedies. Hot water/salt/vinegar gargles were another popular solution, as was honey/lemon tea - usually chamomile and eating raw garlic. This is a fun site listing all sort of "Olde Tyme" remidies. I think my family used about 1/2 of them. ![]() |

Aww! Many, many thank you's again & again! What I do without you guys? I never, ever want to find out.
![]() I took your good advice & I went to my Doctor's office first thing Monday morning. As it turned out, he diagnosed me with one of the most heinous cases of Sinusitis ever, and told me that I shouldn't have left it untreated as long as I did. My case had gone neglected and as a result, tore my throat up. The eye infection? From the Sinusitis. It was so awful that it infected my sinus cavities, including those behind the eyes. I'm about to gag thinking about my seepy, weepy eyes. ![]() So, Pharmacy ahoy! Lots of medicine, mixed with lots of sleep. Levaquin~ The world's most expensive, but effective antibiotic! At almost $12.00 a pill, and a ten day course at once a day, it should also give me the effects of botox. Promethazine with Codeine~ Mmm! Blink real hard and swallow! It's an anti-hystamine, cough suppressant and pain reliever. The stuff makes you feel so wonderful! If by wonderful to you means sleeping 15 hours at a time and walking around in a zombie like state, asking yourself, "Did I dream that, or DO that?" I don't like that feeling at all. However, it's working wonders so I do love the stuff. ![]() Sudafed~ Whether by prescription or over-the-counter, it's amazing! I'm feeling much better, and yesterday was the first day that my body adjusted to the Promethazine and didn't knock me out. Plus, my face has returned to it's normal shape! I knew my sinuses were in trouble when my face morphed. Huge, swollen eyes, nose and puffy cheeks. I've coughed up so many oysters it's unreal. I know nobody needs the imagery of my clam filled kleenex's. ![]() I'm still tired and won't push myself to do anything (mainly out of courtesy to others. My cough can be rather dispuptive!) My lesson? Not to go untreated to the point of depressing my respiratory tract! And as always, being thankful for such wonderful and caring friends like all of you! ![]() |

I'm glad you're feeling on the mend. Keep taking the medication and don't over exert yourself. The side effects of meds can be a bummer but sometimes they are needed. A lot of sleep is probably just what you need right now. It will take awhile to feel 100% after being that sick.
