I'd argue that the cinematography/editing was completely intentional. Happy Together was released three years after my two favorite Wong Kar-Wai movies, Ashes Of Time and Chung King Express.

Too many tangents for me to handle right now, though. If you want to get into a Wong Kar-Wai discussion, we can get into it later... and maybe even have a mini-film festival...

Well, perhaps if it was supposed to be shot by one of the hapless gay men on their $2 a day budget, but otherwise ... I'm not buying it. The cinematography is one thing (and a bad thing at that), but there's no way anyone does crappy editing like that on purpose. If they do, they deserve all my derision.

Um, perhaps because it was a badly shot, poorly edited story of two gay men in love who had the most depressing, dysfunctional relationship in the history of Asian-Gay-Men-Stranded-in-Brazil Cinema.
