Watchmen trailer
Scroll down a bit once the page loads
For those not familiar with Watchmen, it was a hugely popular critically lauded graphic novel written in the 80s. Here's the Wikipedia entry for it. (possible spoilers) |

I waited until seeing Batman to view the trailer. It does not disappoint.

Hahaha, some people were more ecstatic about the Watchmen trailer than about Batman last night.
(I was more pleased with the Terminator 4 trailer ... but the Watchmen trailer was cool.) |

Yeah, saw the trailer. I "hear" they are sticking close to the story, as I can only pray. If so, it just might rival all comic book movies.

I got to see both the Terminator and Watchmen preview when I saw Dark Knight. I had hear rumors about another Terminator movie and was sort of sceptical but it does look interesting. My friend is (was?) a fan of the Watchmen comic book series. I may have to see it just to see what its about.
I've come to love these comic book based movies. This year, especially, has been the year of comic book heroes. I'm glad for it!

Have all you Watchmen fans heard about the lawsuit between Fox and Warner Brothers for the rights?

Ok, I'll admit and remind up front that I've never been a comic book person. A lot of friends when I was a kid who were but it never rubbed off.
I've never read a graphic novel. Since May I have had my Amazon Kindle and it has been that long since I last picked up a physcial paper book. So I've been hearing all the buzz about the Watchmen movie, about how it is about the best graphic novel ever and I happened to walk by a Borders where it was on display in a window and it got me to thinking about how that is a book format that my Kindle can't replace. "So," says I, "I think it is time to pop my graphic novel cherry and I'll be all set for the movie." I've now finished it. And I have to say I'm completely perplexed. There are some compelling parts but it was pretty lame. This is what as all the geekboys foaming at the mouth? This has everybody bitching that they want to see the movie but they just know it will be screwed up? God, I hope it gets screwed up or it is going to be an awfully boring movie. 150 pages of bad exposition with three pages of action. Yeah, great fun. The artwork is great in many places but as narrative I'm just not seeing it. If this really is among the best of the genre then I guess I just really am not cut out for comic books. |
