To answer the question about which version, we will be playing a mish-mash of 3.0, 3.5 and whatever sh*t i make up on the side.
To me it's more about the role playing than the rules so much. Therefore I am all over the place, taking ideas I like from books, other games, bathroom stalls, hobos I meet on the street, you know whatever.

Just chill on all the damn bugbears this time, will ya? Or, I just might have to come up with more silliness like last time - "While our trusty paladin tries to negotiate with the bugbear leader, I break out a deck of cards that I stole from the last tavern and deal out a game of Old Mage and invite the rest of the party to join in. Each round requires the losers to strip off one piece of armor..."

The cool thing - I'm married to the DM, so he can't just kill me out of frustration and still expect to sleep in our bed that night.
