Naps do that to me too. I wake up feeling more groggy than when I started.

I am so glad The Boy is not ADHD. Yes, he can get hyped, but nothing like my friend's son (the one who spent the night). I ended up taking him home less than an hour after he woke up yesterday. He went from snore to 100 instantly. He wouldn't leave the Girls alone, which really bothered me since he has a tendancy to be rough with animals. He kept taunting Pooh and then trying to pet Pooh. I had to put a clamp on the backdoor to keep him from trying to pet him.

I know The Boy has a listening issue, but he seemed almost perfect compared to the other kid.

A river drawdown is the big buzz up here in Wisconsin's Nort' Woods. It had to be done to repair a seawall upstream from a paper mill. A whole lot of stuff from the logging industry was uncovered for the first time in many years. While some fished out old bits of crockery, bottles, etc., from the muddy river bottom, others helped the fish. There was more fish kill than anyone would have wanted (mostly young'uns) but less than had been predicted.

I'll bet there were some old logs that had been submerged for a very long time. I would love to get my hands on those to make some furniture out of. I have seen the wood from long-submerged logs and it is beautiful.

It would be interesting if they got enough to make a little exhibit of what was found. I think some of the most interesting stuff can be the everyday items rather than the big showy treasure etc.

Too bad about the fish, but it's good that it wasn't as bad as they thought it would be. What did people do with the fish, scoop them up in buckets and take them behind the dam?

Cool website! Have you made any furniture before? My mother used to do woodworking when we were kids, and made my bed and my sister's bed. Nothing fancy though.

There a lots of good museums in OC, Bowers and OCMA being at the top of the list.

The only knock I have against the Terracotta Warriors exhibit is that I don't think they did a good job of portraying the sense of scale. It wasn't until the very end of the exhibit where they had a large print of one of the National Geographic images showing the army in place that you got any idea of how truly massive it was. It does a great job of showing the detailed artistry, but it misses the mark on driving home that this isn't just detailed artistry, but detailed artistry on an unmatched and almost unimaginable scale.

Actually, one more knock against it is that the layout created a massive bottleneck at the start of the exhibit. Really poor planning.

Just applied for another assistant editor position - they need 3 people, and consider it "entry level".

Now, watch they say that I'm "over-qualified".

Heck, I'll make their friggin coffee at this point. Seriously.
