I'm sure he was a lovely man, and from what I understand, in real life he sounded nothing like the pitchman for the infomercials. Nothing ever made me hit the mute faster than the voice that was silenced today. I feel for his family, but I also feel a sense of relief.

Same here. I watched the first episode because when I saw the preview spot I was amazed that anyone would do a show about these guys, but was almost immediately hooked. I see many possible reasons: This was a personal trip, the "jet" is just puffery for show and not really used regularly, Sully was using it, etc....

I semi enjoyed the couple episodes I saw but I pretty much treated it like an infomercial for infomercials. As such I just kind of assume that the "personal" stuff shown is just as likely to be a performance as not.
