I am just the opposite: I love self-checkouts. Typically, there isn't a line for them and I can get through quickly. Also, my impatient self hates standing around while someone else is doing something: at least if I am doing the scanning etc., I am doing something and the time goes more quickly.

And the likelihood of getting stuck behind someone who doesn't start writing ANY portion of their check until they are given the total is eliminated.
