This will be a disappointment. The "Un-official Guide To Disneyland" (2009 edition) categorically states that you CAN use the passes after their window, and goes so far as to say you used not to be able to do this.

Bum. We planned to get Fastpasses, go rest in the hotel, then use them in the evening.
