I didn't even consider my middle name, Eugen (no final "e") - I hated it growing, up but have come to like it. I suppose I could even spell it €ugen...

Maddie's middle name is Jorun - no D - it's Norweigen - she hates it. I figured if she didn't like it, it's after my grandmother, that she could always just use the initial.

My middle name is Lee, after my aunt, who always went by Lee, but her middle name was Onalee. She didn't even know it was her middle name till she was in her early 20's, when she needed a copy of her birth certificate and found out her first name was Beatrice after my grandmother (her mom). Some story about my grandmother being upset and wanting to name my aunt after herself, but thinking it didn't happen, so all through childhood everyone including her own mother thought her name was Lee, when it was really Beatrice. I love that story.

I didn't when I was a kid. Absolutely hated it, and quite openly and vocally.

Which, in reality was supremely assholish of me since that is my grandfather's first name.

But I grew up eventually. Now I am indifferent. A name is just a name and I'm a person of the type that would never utter a phrase like "that's funny, you don't look like a Doug." It is nice that it pretty much guarantees that there is nobody else in the world with my exact name (there are a couple dozen Alexander Stroup's out there). Also, to the extent that I know it made my grandfather extremely happy when my parents gave me the name, I am glad they did. Whatevever name was given to me would have seemed "me" to me so if they could give me a name that made someone happy, that's great.
