Why do we only sing the first verse of the "Star Spangled Banner"?

Dude, iSm... the Average Joe has a hard enough time remembering the words to the first verse, and you want them to master the entire song? I think it's a simple matter of expediency.

Just like the rest of the words for America the Beautiful are cool but nobody knows them:

O beautiful for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain!
America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!

O beautiful for pilgrim feet
Whose stern impassioned stress
A thoroughfare of freedom beat

God mend thine every flaw,

Thy liberty in law!

O beautiful for heroes proved

Awesome... but who can remember all that? Certainly not your "average" Joe.
