As perhaps the largest non-comic geek in the world, I still think one of these would be interesting to attend. It seems to be quite the event. I can see why it sells out.

Ah, well. I kept putting off buying tickets because my kid sister is about to have a baby in NY. Turns out the due date is the 9th, so we'll be back. C'est la vie.

I'm interested in how comic fans see this. SD Comic Con is the biggest, yes? Is there some backlash among fans that this one has sold out or is too big or anything like that? Seems to still be definitive...

"Hollywood ruined Comic-Con," I've heard it said. I've only been to the one in Long Beach, which was fun, but even that was overrun with film studios marketing their adaptations. I like the idea that there are more people interested in and reading comic books, and the movie have some responsibility for that. But I imagine, for a comic book fan, SD Comic-Fan feels a bit like celebrity invaded their book fair. I'd go to meet and greet the artists and writers and resent all the crowds of people there because of Heroes and the next horror film release, etc.

Definitely heard that it's way too big. Unpleasantly crowded. And so on.

What EH1812 said. I've been going since the early 90's and it's grown 4 times it's size. It's only a little comic con now and all hollywood and video games, which is fine, but I miss Comic Con.

FYI Long Beach is going to have a Con in October this year.

All the big and over-crowded panels are about TV shows and movies with celebrity appearances. The problem with "Hollywood taking over Comic-Con" is that the rooms/seats are NOT cleared or emptied out after each panel. So, hundreds/thousands of people literally camp out all night to get the best seats and then they stay and save the same seats all day and night.

Everyone else wastes endless hours standing in the long and slow-moving lines to enter certain panel rooms, but there is no assurance if you will actually enter the room or get a seat in time for a particular panel which you want to see.
