Back in the day, my dad had a huge stash of Playboy magazines from the late 80's in the garage. I used to look through them every now and then, and sometimes I'd even point them out to friends when they'd come over and play. Of course, my mom found out about that little treasure trove eventually and threw all of them out.

Although I don't remember much, I do recall reading some pretty funny jokes. Then again, I was 10 or 11, so hilarious back then had a different standard.

I haven't read a Playboy in years, but from what I hear, Maxim has become what Playboy used to be in terms of the articles.

You know, in a way I do worry about that. All I had to do to get at my dads stash was dig into the back of a closet to "find the goods". My son is going to have to break a 128bit encryption key after first finding a hidden directory called "archive" on a dismounted volume. At least I can count on the fact that mom won't find them first.

Hey, it was Playboy that got me to notice I was watching girls in a new way. Boyfriend had a subscription, and I really did read the articles....

For a while. Then a lightning bolt hit, so to speak, and my brain kind of said, Uh oh, honey, guess what, you're not so straight after all....

Hmm, that's a parental concern I hadn't thought about....do you make true porn accessible, or just leave out copies of more classy and informational stuff, like "Joy of Sex" and "What's happening to me?"

Or both? Sounds like a plan.

As the eldest sibling that diapered kids when I was 10 then babysat as income for 6 full years and has worked at an elementary school for 5.5 years and counting, I have thought about parental concerns for a long ass time.

I know I've got nothing on real parents, but still, I'm not exactly a 6 year old saying "I want to be a mommy when I grow up."
