Another Night at the Harp Inn

So I'm a regular at the Harp in Costa Mesa. It's a little Irish pub with lots of cool people and a beloved bartender, Paul. Usually we go to the Harp then go clubbing then close the Harp but not last weekend. We ended up getting thrown out at 2:45 am!! LOL!

Since Paul is always our bartender when he's there he made room for us at the bar so we could sit. I had several Baybreezes along with my girlfriends. We always flirt with Paul and asked him things like what he was like in bed, how long, why did he date the grumpy waitress and basically accosted him all evening. Not that he hated it since he was drinking Jager all night! We were in rare form!!

Another place I frequent is called Liquid Lounge in Huntington Beach. I had a weeks vacation and my first Saturday back was at Liquid. I couldn't drink anymore since I'd drank for a week straight and I think my liver deserted me. But here's a pic anyways!

A Week at Balboa Pier

I'm lucky enough to work with lots of cool rich people who feel they have to nice things for me. Horrible huh? Anyways, one of these very cool and wealthy people gave me a week in mid May at their timeshare located next to the Balboa Pier.

Basically for a whole week I did nothing but drink myself into oblivion and sleep on the beach! When my girlfriend and I arrived on a Saturday, we had to check in. They gave us one of those buckets you give your kids to use to dig up sand. I spent the rest of the week drinking Capt. Morgan Parrot Bay Rum Pineapple flavor, pineapple and cranberry juice out of the "F--- It" bucket.

We went to Taco Tuesday at El Ranchito in Newport and a bunch of young dudes bought us drinks all night. We then went to Sharkeez on a Thursday and although no young dudes bought us drinks the bouncer kept coming around and made sure we got our drinks with out having to leave our spot. We also spent a little time at a place called Cabo Cantina, it was only about 2 blocks from our place and has a great late night happy hour. I highly recommend it if you're way down in Balboa. My girlfriend and I even got a day in at Disneyland. BTW never go to D-land with less than 4 hours of sleep and a giant hangover.

On our last night at the beach house, we stayed in all night and partyied on our patio. One of my girlfriends was so drunk that when she used the potty she dropped her cellphone in too. Our last day was a very sad day, not only did we have to be out on a Saturday but we had to be out at 10am. What made it worse is that the management told us after we had left that we could have left LATER with no adverse reactions. Gee thanks dude! Couldn't tell me that BEFORE?

Most of what we did is rather vague in my head since i spent 85% of it either drinking, drunk or hung over. But I'm here to share my experiences I remember and pics for your viewing pleasure.

^^^ Mistyisjafo -- I LOVE your pictures. I got drunk just from looking at them (and now I'm hungover). I salute you and your friends. I'd triple mojo you if I could.

Friday night we went to a club called The Doors in Shibuya to see a band called Kiii:

They were a lot of fun, high energy, silly, and entertaining. I was able to get a Campari and soda at the bar, which suited me just fine.

If you spent all day at my grandma's nursing home, you'd drink all night, too

I went out Saturday night, with the sole purpose of doing what I can to add to the LoT Pub total. I'm a giver, I am.

First stop was a place called SoHo, because my friend liked the band that was playing, Delta Nove. I was somewhat unimpressed, but they were ok. I was feeling a bit drained after a long day, so I decided to forgo my usual V & T for something with a little caffeine and had a couple or four Red Bull & Vodkas.

It was kinda a weird night. First when I was standing outside lamenting with some random people over having quit smoking (with cigarettes in our hands) "Believe it or not, I quit smoking." <drag> "Me too!" <drag> "No, I'm serious, I quit, this is my first in weeks." <drag> "I'm serious too, it's just when I drink......" <drag> "Yeah" I looked inside and saw a kid I used to know. I probably haven't seen him in 13 years, so he was 12 when I saw him last, but he looked exactly the same (only much bigger.) As I was standing there staring at him in shock, I heard someone say, "Hi Heather!" It was his older brother, who I hadn't seen in about nine years. I used to be friends with their older brother, who was killed in a car accident when I was in high school. I had lost track of them, and it was really weird to see them. I mean, they were really weird. I don't remember them being weird as kids. It made me feel really melencholy.

Then a little bit later, an older dude came up to me and just said, "You're all grown up!" Then, luckily for him he said, "Remember me, I'm Tom!" (I say luckily for him because I was with my guy friends who are like a cross between a doberman, a rottweiler & a pit bull, and they're protective of me like I am their master ) Anyway, he had been the finish carpentry guy when my parents were building their house, 14 years ago. He remembered me from when I was sixteen, and hit the side of my parents garage with my car, a week after we moved in.

Anyway, we stayed there for quite a while since my friend was groovin' on the band, then we headed down to The Sportsman which you can always recognise by the crowd of smokers outside it. It was around 1:15am, and very crowded, and luckily, just as I was opening my mouth to tell my friend what to order for me, I remembered that they serve ridiculously strong drinks, and changed my order to a bottle of beer. My memory is a bit fuzzy from all the Red Bull & Vodkas I had earlier, but I seem to recall a brown bottle with a green label, so I think I had a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. I could be wrong, though. What I like best about the Sportsman is the heavy metal music that is constantly playing, as well as the ESPN & Fox Sports that I can zone out to.....We had a couple of beers, then headed out the door after last call, and that was the end of a very odd evening.

VIP Treatment at Sharkeez Newport Beach

As you all know, I went on vacation last month and had a great nite at Sharkeez in Newport Beach. When we were there last they insisted I complete their little "Win a VIP" party form. I did and of course I received a VIP party. The party was for 10 or more people, drinks were you call it/well/ beer/wine 2 for 1 and a huge party platter of food.

I can honestly say that if you get the opportunity to go to Sharkeez to sign up for that party because it certainly was worth it!! Good sized drinks and great food plus they reserve a booth for you. The place really gets to jumping around 10 but we had an early Happy Hour and didn't need to drink once it was over. Can't beat that!

Went to Westwood Brewery to celebrate my sister's graduation from her UCLA MBA program. Second time I've been there, the first was just for dinner. This was for drinkin' hour. My oh my. As I understand, Friday's tend not to be particularly busy nights, so they may have just been unprepared for the graduation crowds. But damn did the service suck. Table drink service ended at about 11. And the bar....my brother in law spent 30 minutes trying to get drinks. He gave up. I took his place. The two (female) bartenders were paying attention to about 1/5 of the length of the bar. Bitches.

However, I managed to get a drink.....by chatting up the cute blonde that squeezed in next to me. SHE got one of the bartender's attention. Yay.

The good: Mixed drinks were average, micro brew's pretty good. The building, and surrounding buildings are great old brick buildings. There's a large outdoor courtyard in the middle that's nice, and even at the most crowded the courtyard had plenty of elbow room. And you gotta appreciate the undergrad hoochies.

The bad: Service. And you gotta get sick of the undergrad hoochies.
