To answer Betty's question, yes, as I understand (and experienced) it, girls mature faster ... and arrive at the Unbearable Stage approx. 2 years earlier (and are done with it that much sooner!).

As for the kidlet in question, he will only be furry via genetics if he's a He.

Ok, the burning question, if he's a He .... being that it's 2009 in America, but being that he's a jewish boy .... to snip or not to snip (if I may paraphrase Hamlet a bit)?

I'm going to vote for full on castration. I think it is important that we not make important life choices for our children and allow them to approach them as individuals as they reach maturity.

When it is 20 or so it should of its own free will decide whether it would like to have a penis or not rather than have this dictated by the geneto-pharmaco-industrial complex.

We as in my husband and I. Regarding discussion, we've had this discussion on the board already in the past, and I'm sure it'll flare up again. Just make sure to make your own thread for it. Even as all concepts are up for debate here on the LoT, our personal decisions regarding our baby are not.
