If it was consensual, which so far it appears to be, then this is pretty much over for Letterman publicly. Mrs. Letterman might still have some issues but that's for the two of them to work out.

				            | I still wonder which team Letterman truly plays for as he is alternately goofy or rudely dismissive to attractive starlets and positively giggly around male star athletes.

				            | He has no obligation to tell us about his sexual relationships. He's not a politician, he's not a moral crusader. He certainly could have tried to go a route that might have prevented this from being common knowledge. His obligation is to his wife. Since theirs is a long relationship I assume the sex was in same way cheating (though for all I know she knew and didn't care). To the extent that it was workplace inappropriate he had an obligation to CBS. So, I don't care at all that he had sex. I vaguely care about the nature of the proof that the guy provided because now i have to be worried that there's a David Letterman sex tape (or photographs) that will eventually make its way to the internet. And I don't need to stumble onto that unexpectedly. As for the announcement on the show he really should have, at the beginning (or had someone say so during the commercial break) told the audience that this was not going to be a funny story. That he wasn't building to a punchline. That would have avoided some of the inappropriate laughter and clapping. |

				            | Well, it is somewhat unprofessional, as Alex says. And to that extent, he may be trying to avoid naming names because it's more likely to cost the women their jobs than it is the star his. But the main point is, this could have turned into a good old fashioned huge media <<scandal!>> and instead of avoiding it or attempting to keep it on the down-low and having it come out anyway, he just came out on the show and said yeah, I suck, I did this. And if that means the media quiets down that much sooner, good. Because, like you say, he's an entertainer, not a politician. So while we might lose a little respect for him, it doesn't really affect us.

				A Post Full of So
So many artists' studios on the open house tour, so little time ... and they're all so, so hidden. A person tires of fumbling with maps and missing so many turns. So, a stop at a wymyns' collective bakery. The town reminds me of Bolinas 30 years ago. Purchase: 3 scones and 3 chocolate chip cookies. Sooooo good.
