Google actually has a horrible track record of rolling out sustainable self monetizing products.

So I'm sure Amazon is watching very closely but I haven't seen enough yet to say it is a huge threat. And the Google books will be for sale through Amazon as well so do a certain respect success will rebound back to Amazon. Interested in the limitations on the Google purchases since I'm not clear why the publishers would be any looser on DRM with them than with Amazon and if they're going to be mostly self publishers and public domain books then that's hardly a threat at all (seeing as the former are almost universally crap and the latter are almost universally lacking in market).

But more players is always potentially a good think. The Sony/B&N eInk partnership rolls out soon too and I'll be watching that closely as well.

I agree, it's primarily about content. Right now Amazon has the best content for eBooks. If Google/Sony/Barnes & Nobel/whoever can't sell the books I want then I don't care how good their eReaders are.

After nine years without a car, I am mobile again. No, I didn't buy anything. It took some specific planning, cleaning up my finances to get a VISA check card, reinstating my lapsed license, then waiting a year.

I joined Zipcar! Perfect for occasional driving. Within an easy walk of my apartment are two Scions, a Mini, a Miata, numerous Honda hybrids, an Element, and a BMW. I'm very excited!

Good for you! I'm with City Car Share in SF, I love it!

I love the Scions and the Prius, the pods nearest me do not have MINI's, I'm dying to try those!
