I've done some web brousing on the subject, and found that there are a number of programs that allow editing, special effects, and some enhancement like hue adjustment, background and foreground lighting and shake reduction. But nothing for graininess and artifact removal. Some have artifact addition to make new film look old, but I guess the opposit take some powerfull and expensive professional programs. At least if I get them transfered into digital I can stop the damage from film decay, and see what kind of programs come out in the future.

I use Pinnacle 12 and it's pretty user friendly and not horribly expensive.
