Animal Contol also mentioned that Homeowner's Insurance has to be notified ahead of time of a Pit or Rot on property to be covered. We'll have to wait and see on that of course.

No police report since no law was actually broken, the Pit did start out on a leash, obviously one not strong enough to hold the dog, but still within the law.

You may also want to contact your own homeowner's insurance company. If any of the other parties does have insurance, your insurance company may be able to step in and do the legal legwork for you (subrogation). At least that's how it works in the auto insurance world, not 100% certain the same applies for homeowners but it's worth a call.

On that point he's likely correct. It may also be possible that even if they did properly inform their insurance company...the result of that information was that the insurance policy excludes the pitbull. So you may still be going after the homeowner directly even if they are insured.

Called insurance company and it's different than auto. The owners should be able to get it paid for through theirs, but ours has nothing to do with it.

Autos are insured two different ways - Individual and Vehicle. Whole different scenario.

If the dog had done damage to our home it would be something they could step in on. But damage to our dog....nope.
