I liked Kooza. I know some people who love CdS and wouldn't see that one, finally feeling all the acts have been seen before. And truly, with few exceptions, it's the same type of acts again and again.

Same was true of Kooza - BUT--- I loved the abstract storyline, the music, the costumes, the cast of characters - basically all the cool elements that surrounded the entertaining-yet-same ol' same ol' types of acts. And so, I found Kooza completely enjoyable.

Ovo, on the other hand, surprised the hell out of me with a number of original-type acts or some whose like hasn't been seen in quite a while. A couple were truly never-before-Cirqued - - and were amazing. In particular, if the guy who does the final acrobatic act is injured - the show will have lost 70% of its appeal.

Because the music was bleh, the costumes uninspired, the spelled-out and hammered storyline of insect love was cute but silly. In short, lacking most of the accoutrement pleasure even with amazing circus acts left me feeling short-changed and mildly disappointed.

So by all means, go see Kooza. Cirque du Soleil is going downhill on a steep slope, so it may be one of the last chances to see a good one.
