I've looked at several of his pieces in the last week because they're using some of his stuff in the Glow thing going on at DCA.

I must acknowledge the dedication, skill, and impressiveness of the result. However, rarely before have I seen dedication, skill, and impressiveness combine to produce something I find so annoying. Every piece gives me a headache and I bail before it is over. It reminds me of a 90 minute white noice "concert" done by an avant garde computer I had to attend back in college when my first wife was taking a music appreciation easy A course. |

I have the complete opposite response. I love his stuff. Total earworms for me.

I know, AVP and I talked about him last week for a bit since we so completely disagree. Like I said, I can see the skill that goes into making it. But I can also appreciated the skill that would go into Mike Tyson punching me in the nose.

But I feel like I've been audibly assaulted. When I tune away it is just such a sense of relief that the noise has stopped. Interestingly (or coincidentally anyway) that's the second time in a week that's happened since I've had the same response to the vuvuzelas during what little World Cup I've watched. |

Question, what role do you think the accompanying visual plays? If that were to just play on the radio would you respond differently?

Something about either the way they're being used in South Africa or the ABC/ESPN audio setup is making the vuvuzelas even more annoying than the usual horn/whistle drone of soccer matches.

Pogo's hit and miss for me. Love the Alice one, and the Up one. Most of the others don't really captivate me.

Eh, Bjork did it way better in 2004's Medulla album. But I'm biased like that

And here I thought we were going to have a thread about Walt Kelley's classic comic strip.

I enjoy this stuff more without looking at it. I find that sort of redundant visual staccato stultifying, but the sounds are pretty cool. I did something a bit like this with tape loops about 24 years ago, and I used samples from Snow White in a very naughty way. I've lost the result somewhere along the way. |

		 Pogo presents Toyz Noize.

The footage looks like it's only TS1 and TS2 so no TS3 I think. But it has been awhile since I've seen those two films... |
