We LOVE Top Gear and I tried to watch the US version but it's just annoying. Maybe I'll give it another shot then.

This last episode was great because they picked a prefect subject matter - old GM cars. Plus where in the first episode we saw (which I think was the 2nd episode in the season), they seemed to be giving Tanner (the littlest guy) the "lead" role (like Jeremy's role on the original), in this episode they seemed to be leaning more towards Adam for that role. A better choice, he's got much better screen presence IMO.

ETA: I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with the British version. I really love their take on cars, and they do some awesome things. But it always bugs me when they try to pass off stuff that's blatantly staged as spontaneous.

I wasn't aware that the UK version ever does anything that isn't staged. It all looks that way to me. That isn't to say it isn't amusing, I just assume it is a skit show.

Oh, it's certainly all staged, but sometimes it's staged in a way that actually tests/illustrates an aspect of the vehicle(s) in use, and sometimes it's staged in a way that's just patently ridiculous that they try to pass off as actually saying something about the car. I know it's kinda arbitrary for me to draw a line between acceptably stage vs. annoyingly so, but oh well.

I'm having trouble coming to terms with the American version. I mean they explained the Stig for gods sake. "Now you'll never hear him talk....." Good grief. They've taken the edge off. I can't see these guys driving through the south with cars bearing slogans like "Man Love" and "Country music sucks". I'm also still waiting for their first trashing review of a current model American car.

Oh, with that explanation I definitely see what you mean. Kind of like how I get annoyed at Mythbusters for doing some stuff just because it is cool but trying to put a gloss on it that is also actually explanatory.
