If it makes you feel any better, if the government weren't deducting that, the supply/demand model of economics holds that the check would be for less. So the net result is not as much of a decrease of money in your pocket as you think it is (the difference being contingent how elastic/inelastic your profession's salary curve is).

Back from the WDW half marathon just in time for Snowmaggedon: Upstate NY edition. I don't have much food at home, so I guess it will be chocolate and cookies until further notice.

I could live with chocolate and cookies, make that hot chocolate, during a snow storm! I'm glad you made it home alright, it looks like many are stuck in airports again.
