It amazes me, every time there is a natural disaster, just how must destruction can happen. We are simply powerless when it happens... the best you can hope for is to be in the right place at the right time.

Doppler radar, TV, Sirens, Radio, Internet, Reinforced buildings, Emergency planning, Rescue and recovery services. Without all that I'm sure the death toll would have been much greater. So while we are not perfect, we are also far from helpless.
