I was suspecting, and CP confirms that she read, that the black bar at the top is an element that is integral to Google+, something about a way to drag and drop stuff to share. So they're going to be keeping a consistent interface between all of the service (no surprise there).

Absolutely. But I've wasted too much time with social networks that never achieve critical mass regardless of how cool they are. Whereas if I adopt HDDVD early, I may eventually lose the standards war but I at least get full value in the meantime. I get almost nothing out of a social network that never takes off.
