The new seats are uncomfortable because there is absolutely NO padding in them. It's not how you sit that I have a problem with at all. I don't see why people are complaining about how you sit in the bobsled because it's just like the old styles far as sitting goes. It's the no protection when riding that I find insanely horrible. I was roughed around so much that my lower back was hurting when I tried to exit the bobsled. I will gladly skip this ride from now on until they add padding to the bobsleds.
Also you used to go to DCA to avoid the crowds at Disneyland now it's the opposite. The crowds are manageable at Disneyland for the most part. Everything had fast passes at 2:30pm with reasonable return times as well. |

I think that's just the excitement of opening weekend: I predict that as the Summer wears on, you will see more of a balance (though DCA will be busier from here on). If I recall correctly, when DCA first opened 11 years ago, DCA was swamped and Disneyland was slower than usual.

Yeah, it will probably be 50/50 after mid-summer - and the real will be how it is NEXT summer when there's no NEW NEW NEW.
I don't get it about the new Matterhorn bobsleds. Um, there wasn't padding in the old version, was there. I remember you had to hold on tight to those side handles, or you'd get pretty banged up. Are the side handles there in the new cars? I think that's the key, rather than padding. I'll try to check 'em out Wednesday after DCA closes, if I can. |

There are one set of handles on the sides and grab bar on sides of head rest in seat in front of you. PROBLEM being you can't really grab the side bars as easily as the old bobsleds. There definitely NEEDS to be some sort of more padding on the seat back (hence the pain inflicted on my lower back). Hence my desire to ride isn't there compared to the old bobsleds. This is one attraction I'd rather sit out on the benches near the ride and let Matt ride.
Will be interesting to see as far as crowds go between both parks BUT I want to assume that Disneyland maybe more manageable now that DCA has a big draw at least for the summer. |

Susan couldn't handle getting banged around on the old Bobsleds: has that changed with the new Bobsleds (the banging around; not whether Susan will like it or now

It depends. I found the ride in the front seat much smoother to handle than the other rows. So iF I want to ride I'm going to have to ask for the front otherwise it's a NO go for me.
With the old bobsleds I found I was able to brace myself and didn't bang around like a rag doll....however in the new bobsleds they're so compact with less room that you don't necessariy get banged around its more of a jarring issue with lack of padding especially wi the actual back seat of the sled. I for one miss the old sleds especially now. I never rode the old sleds and hurt my back like the new ones. |

I rode in the front seat of the second car and got a buttload of butthurt. Those seats need padding! Did not like.

Ty for agreeing with me about the padding. I do NOT understand why they aren't padded because in my opinion instead of getting thrown around in the old bobsleds riders can get injured with the new ones. I walked away after riding and was in pain which never happened with the old sleds.

Banged around? Not so much. If I'm not able to prevent that by using the side handles, I'm going to be doubly disappointed with the new Matterhorn. And you just know Disney is going to claim the testing dummies never complained about the lack of padding. |

I bring my own padding and fill all available space. You all should have had the forethought I did and overate when younger.
