I'm considering the LG Lucid.

From the Verizon website:

Quote:
The Lucid™ by LG is designed to create an easy–to–learn and easy–to–use experience for first–time Smartphone users. Lucid provides immediate access to call, messaging, voicemail, & camera features from the lock screen. Make phone calls by simply dialing with the Quick Dialer Widget. Assistance is at your fingertips with Guided Tours, which provide step–by step on–device tutorials for consumers who want to learn more about their new phone. Lucid’s bright 4.0” screen provides clear and better visibility even under direct sunlight. With a blazing fast dual–core 1.2 GHz processor and the power of 4G LTE, your first Smartphone experience will be seamlessly entertaining. Enhance your multimedia experience with Netflix® or by recording videos in full High Definition (1080p) and share them with friends and family via DLNA. Video Chat on the front–facing camera or snap photos with the 5MP rear–facing camera and upload them Facebook®, YouTube™, or your favorite social networking site. All your amazing first Smartphone experiences on America’s Fastest, Most Reliable 4G network.

Specs:

Operating System
Android™ 2.3 Platform (Gingerbread)

Display
Large 4.0" IPS Touch Screen Display protected by Corning® Gorilla® Glass

Keyboard
Virtual QWERTY Keyboard with Swype® – use one continuous finger motion to enter text when composing messages

Battery
Standard Li–Ion Battery (1700 mAh)
Usage Time: up to 480 minutes OR
Standby Time: up to 350 hours

Memory / Processor
Processor: 1.2 GHz Dual–Core processor with 1GB RAM
8GB internal memory (actual formatted capacity is less)
Supports up to 32GB microSD card

So it is an Android.

Though I am a little annoyed that it seems to reset my notification settings with every update, but I wouldn't call using the Android standard for notification settings "sneaky".
I've never had to use this settings window to disable push notifications until I received ICS and the FB app to go with it. Disabling the settings under FB > Account > settings > notifications settings was enough before. Then again I haven't updated my FB app in a long time so maybe I missed some updates that started changing the default notifications.

A good friend of mine does data sales training for VZW and he recommends the Lucid. So, I think it's a good choice.
