Obviously I'm not the best to judge such things but I think he just looks odd in those first two photos. Particuarly the first one where he looks more like Rene Auberjonois* in Deep Space Nine not having perfected replicating human faces.

But, obviously, as they say, your tardis volume may vary.

Smith does have an Odo quality and there are angles of him that I don't like. The huge cheek/jaw bugs when shot wrong. However, there are plenty of other angles that I do like, so I picked those. The fourth memed photo is my least fav of the bunch but after tripping across it I had to add it to my silliness here.
