has anyone checked to see if the land of loathing lives or for any updates? I cant check from here.

Yes, Jick posted the (lengthy) story. Bottom line is it looks like the damaged database will mostly hurt Ascenders. It might even be back up late tonight!! If you can at least check the forums, here's his story.
