It kind of sucks because I would love to get out to more shows and be a fan of newer bands but my heart just is not in it. I could never see myself at a Killers show you know?
I don't know, you might be entering a new era for music. My experience is annectdotal of course, but I've been seeing more bands - and running into old time friends at their concerts. Take note of the small clubs (not the House of Blues) and maybe take a chance or two on a $12 show, you might find some pretty cool music. Or, if you can swing it, give Coachella a go - I've seena lot of great stuff there the past 2 years.

Its not like I have given up on new music compleatly, just most popular music. Last year I really got into Noise music and have been going down to the Smell downtown at least a half dozen times. But these are really really really small shows, 100 people would be a really good turn out and you are right there on the same level as the band, somtimes standing right next to them. I think that might be kind of what Punk was like in the early years so I like the scene. There is nothing like a show that a bigger band can put on though, lights media and really good sound (somtimes depending on the band). But I think you might be right Meinke, I think getting out to a $12 show would be a good thing for me, find the midrange music. I agree that music does seem to be getting better, I just hope it lasts and the record lables don't mess it up and over play everything.

Okay I'm off to Disneyland now!

Two things:
1. I met Stevie Ray Vaughn when I was 9 (my uncle was his tour bus driver) He was a very nice guy. I saw the show on some pier in New York. It was cool and hey, I can say I saw him play live, right?

2. I wish I could've seen Q and not U before they broke up. Just a little too late I guess... And of course there are the people I would love to see but can't cause they're dead!! (Elvis, Beatles, Joy Division...)

Hey, I live for the 12 dollar show. That is the only way I can afford to go out and see bands. I am going to Metric on Friday at the El Rey, Broken Social Scene at the Fonda on Monday and then Death Cab for Cutie on wednesday(on my actual birthday lucky me...) as a happy birthday present to me. YEAH!!!
