Do the math.
Vs? Netflix is as necessary to me as cable, which is as necessary as the TV itself....yeah, born and raised a junkie.

Don't let GusGus know or she'll be racing over there with her out-of-region copy of The Pirate Movie: "Buckle Your Swash and Jolly Your Roger for the Funniest Rock 'N Rollickin' Adventure Ever!"

When my TV set broke about 4 years ago, and was out of commission for 5 months, I discovered - to my complete amazement - that I could somehow live without the thing that had been ON, non-stop, whenever I was at home. Whether I was watching or not - unless I was listening specifically to music - the TV was on to provide background noise if not entertainment.

I am cured and I am loving it. I watch two TV shows when they air (which is rarely) - 'The Sopranos' and 'Deadwood'. I cancelled my cable TV and have never looked back.

If I am intrigued by friends' tales of a great show, I will patiently wait for the DVDs to come out. I would much rather watch a season all in a batch - with no commerical interruptions - than any other schedule a DVR could devise.

Yeah, when Lani and I moved to the Bay Area we never got cable and lived with what could come in on antenna, which was one channel (NBC).

For about six years we lived this impoverished lifestyle of watching maybe three hours of TV a week. And it was good.

Then when we moved last April we realized that for less than the price of telephone and DSL we could could have cable and cable broadband, giving up the landline we never used.

But we weren't going to go whole hog, we'd just get the bare minimum cable package. Unfortunately the cable company didn't do it right and while we only pay for the bare minimum we get standard basic cable.

I still don't watch nearly so much TV as I did before moving to the Bay Area but it is slowly creeping back in. Nothing highlights just how much almost all sitcoms are than to go a couple years without watching one.

Since we got our ReplayTV, I'd say I watch less tv, my tv watching is just more focused.

I'm like Alex, we're supposed to get very basic cable to support our internet, but for some reason we get all the channels (except for the movie channels). We also have netflix. We don't have DVR, but as we speak Michael is building an entertainment computer complete with TV card and myth TV for Linux. That way we can record TV and play all our retro video games. It's my anniversary gift, so it's only, oh, six months late.

Oh man, what a ride that was. Those bastards are so brilliant, so sad it's gone

In case someone hasn't watched it:
Spoiler:

Thinking back on the finale, did they or didn't they say conclusively who "N. Bluth" is? They confirmed that there was an N. Bluth account, but was it Nichael? Was it Nelly? I don't think they every really totally tied that up. Not that it mattered really, but still.

Spoiler:
Nelly was Lindsay. The guy that couldn't grow hair was going to adopt her and they named her Nelly. Then the Bluths adopted her out from under them just to spite them. Is that what you are asking?

I like how they left a few strings hanging. Gives me hope that maybe another network will pick it up.

I knew that, but did they definitively tie that to the account? She was Nelly before the adoption, I don't know that they really established that the accoutn was definitely named for her. (it probably was, but they're usually far more explicit with those connections, so I was surprised that they didn't really tie it up).
