You know, this is yet another reminder of how out of touch I am with the main stream entertainment industry. Here I was seeing all these films, having a great time, and it seems all the films I passed on get nominations. Yet instead of revising my to-see list, I still want to see A Very Long Engagement, Bad Education, And Life Aquatic, before any of the real contenders.
Le sigh...

I'm glad that three films didn't get chosen for best picture nominations: Fahrenheit 9/11, Phantom of the Opera, and Passionof the Christ. Though I am a liberal, Michael Moore does stretch the truth a little too far, he should move on to different topics aside from Bush. Phantom was a disaster compared to the Stage version, it was a good film, but not anywhere near worthy of a Best Picture Nom. And finally Passion? Only popular because of it's hype I didnt find it to be a great film, I guess I should feel bad that I was the only one in my theatre not crying, but the film did nothing for me or my faith, you don't need to see a movie to help build on you christianity. I am ecstatic that Finding Neverland and Lemony Snicket have gotten so many nominations. Though I am sure Ray will be sweeping the awards in its categories, I'm sure FN and LS will both get their fair share of awards. Both films have a worth soundtrack for the award. |
