AP screenings of Cars and POTC 2 at El Capitan Theatre
From Disneyland's AP site:
Exclusive AP screenings at the El Capitan Theatre this summer! Located in the heart of downtown Hollywood, the historic El Capitan Theatre offers an incredible movie screening experience for Disney fans. And now, Passholders have the opportunity to attend exclusive screenings at this legendary theatre and see two of this summer's most-anticipated releases during their opening weekends! Seating for both movies is very limited and is available on a first-come, first-served basis. To purchase tickets, call 1-800-DISNEY6 today! Cars Opens: June 9, 2006 Buckle up! and race on down to the El Capitan Theatre this summer as Disney/Pixar's newest rip-roaring comedy-adventure movie pulls into town. After taking moviegoers into the magical realm of toys, bugs, monsters, fish, and superheroes, the wizards at Pixar Animation Studios ("The Incredibles," "Finding Nemo," "Monsters, Inc."), and Academy Award®-winning director John Lasseter ("Toy Story," "Toy Story 2," "A Bug's Life"), hit the road with a fast-paced adventure set inside the world of cars. Lightning McQueen (voiced by OWEN WILSON) is a hotshot rookie race car who suddenly finds himself unexpectedly detoured in the sleepy Route 66 town of Radiator Springs. He soon discovers life is about the journey, not the finish line, when McQueen realizes some things are more important than trophies and fame. Fueled with an all-star vocal cast, plenty of humor, action, and heartfelt drama, CARS is a high octane delight for moviegoers of all ages. Opening Weekend Passholder Screenings: Saturday 6/10, at 10:00 a.m. Sunday, 6/11 at 10:00 a.m. Price: $15.00 per ticket for all ages (Plus $2.00 handling fee per ticket) Each ticket includes: - Admission to screening - One popcorn in a souvenir bucket - One regular sized contour bottle drink - One-sheet movie poster (while supplies last) - Real pit crew demonstration Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest Opens: July 7, 2006 Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley reunite in this sequel to Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl. Hmmm, the Pixar movie I've least looked forward to and the sequel that looks to suck beans through a straw, all at the theater where even tiny, little me is squished into a seat, for only 150% the price of a regular movie ticket.
Um, no. |

I'd love to go to either but with schedules being as they are....
I saw a preview of P-2 last night and it looked very quick paced and exciting. Adventurous. I don't think I've ever been to the El Capitan. I did once see a preview of George of the Jungle at the little theater on the right entrance of Disneyland. THAT was a little theater.

I would love to see either of these at the El Cap but it's too early for that far away.

I had no idea that Owen Wilson was one of the voices for Cars. With this bit of knowledge I will NOT be seeing it in a theater. I hate having to pay to hear someone talk through their nose for 90 mins.

Considering they've already been selling tickets for a full day of regular screenings for several months the only way they could add AP screenings is in the morning or very late at night.
They're AP screenings because you have to have an AP to buy the tickets. As for benefit it looks like you get the VIP ticket (popcorn and soda) for $5-$7 less without a guarantee of VIP seats (since the whole theater has the same ticket). Also, you will be able to take in the movies without having to mingle with the Disney noobs who don't know that Walt's left index finger was 0.023 centimeters shorter than his right and that Roy had a nervous habit of pulling on his right eyebrow resulting in a slight tendency to walk in big circles. |
