Has anybody ever heard of him?

I saw a blurb about him in today's LA Times:

The album's title harks back to L.A.'s rave scene of the '90s, when parties seemed unending "and there was something apocalyptic about it," says Daedelus, who was born Alfred Weisberg-Roberts and has changed his name to Alfred Darlington. But the music remains characteristically sample-heavy, while achieving the swoon of an artist influenced by "all those great film composers who made their best records when they went to Rio."

"I'm from the pretty electronic side of electronic music," says Daedelus, who in solo shows plays a sequencing contraption called a Monome (mono-mee). "To be honest, this is me trying to represent dance music from my perspective, though it can still sound techno-y and still have things that go bump in the night."

Something about the descriptions REALLY captures my attention. I gotta look into this guy.

I just checked out some samples at the iTunes store. I like the fact that most of his sources are warm, crackly analog. Most certainly worthy of further investigation. The album that most caught my fancy was OF SNOWDONIA - I also enjoyed the Little Nemo cover of DENIES THE DAYS DEMISE, which sounded like a pretty challenging listen. I'm very intrigued.

It goes on my ever-growing wish list of tunes I want to buy when I have money. (Very heavy sigh)

After spending a wad at Tower last night, I am not happy to hear theres something else new and cool that may require buying.

Listened to iTunes samples and I'd have to say this stuff is alright but I'm not overly impressed. I have enough downtempo to keep me happy for a long time.

Having finally gotten around to listening to the samples, I gotta say that the description far exceeded the reality.
