True, but rewatch the pilot episode. Something grabbed hold of the plane, then it was torn apart.

There's also the little detail of anyone surviving a fall from 30,000 feet, let alone 50-60 people. It wasn't pulled down, it was lowered.

No. Nanotech smoke monster. (Seeing that in print makes "tractor beam" seem oh so much more plausable!)

We know that Dharma has a nanotech project. We heard the Smoke Monster sound when the plane was breaking up. <shrug> Only the writers know for sure.

There is the pilot episode in which you see the (or at least a) smoke monster attack the wreckage of the plane and make an engine explode. I've seen clips of it many times. So....perhaps.

That is one disppointment i have about the finale. Nothing on the origins of the monster(s) and what it (they) is (are).

One theory I heard was that the smoke monster responds to the electromagnetic thingy. The stronger the magnetic field, the stronger the smoke monster is. Works for me.

I loved it. Great, great finale. Exciting and fun and it answered some questions, especially the one about the button - it has a function (or, well...it did).

I'm also in love with Desmond, so it's too bad he's (probably) dead. He and GITH ("Henry Gale") are fantastic characters. Loved Locke's journey this season but I hope for a renewal of some of his earlier island energy/spark, assuming he's still alive. Hatck Eko isn't as interesting as Tree Eko, so I hope they resolve that somehow.

Charlie's amnesia (or lie) really through me. My friend at work wonders if Charlie has been compromised somehow. It didn't seem like he was lying so much as completely oblivious to the hatch's demise. Assuming it is, in fact, wreckage.

And we don't really know what happened when the key was turned. Was it an explosion? An electrical charge? A reset button? WHAT WAS IT? THE BLINDING LIGHT IN THE SKY?!?!?!

I'd say Penelope's father is definietly a part of Hanso, and that's a) how he was able to strand Desmond on the island and b) how Penelope would know something like this might have happened, so she'd have some idea of where to look...."Greetings from...Some Island!" (I love www.televisionwithoutpity.com)

Libby. So. Hmm. Part of Hanso, as well? Cause I'm inclined to think yes. Also, who's this "Dave" husband? Is that Hurley's imaginary friend, or what?

LOVED the return of army man Clancey Brown. As soon as I saw him I said to my roommate, "He must have left the army and joined the Dharma initiative." I just had a feeling he wasn't a randomly stranded person, like so many others.

Weird Crete-like, Greek sculptures. The comment that really through me was Sayid's "I don't know which is stranger, that so much of the statue is missing, or that it only has 4 toes." I mean, I suppose it could be a mythological creature, but it was certainly humanoid. Maybe they've landed on Simpsons Island!

Or maybe Lost is just a GIANT ad for Scientology, and we're all being brainwashed to believe that we're descended from an alient race of humanoids who only had 4 digits.

So, will Michael and Walt really be rescued? All that to do about how special Walt is, makes me think they're being tricked. Then again, maybe they just need Walt gone, cause kids age fast, grow tall, and only 2 months (give or take) are supposed to have passed. I assuem Michael will return to help his friends as a last ditch effort to redeem himself. Kills two people AND leads them into a trap within a trap? I'm not sure it's possible to be redeemed, the f*!ker.

I think Jack, Kate and Sawyer have a plan! Or, they look upon each other's faces as they would the sun...and squint.

LOVE that Desmond is responsible for the plane crash and I have to wonder now whether (all character connections/coincidences aside) the crash wasn't part of Dharm's plan. Wrench in the works! Wrench in the works!

I'm thinking Walt, who has seen whatthe Others really are, and got a good look at his friends tied with guns at their heads will convince/force Michael to turn back.

I'm hoping Michael has already make that decision, otherwise he really does deserve to have his neck crushed in by Jack's manly foot.

How do you think they'll handle kid actor Walt's aging on the show? I imagine it will pose a problem.

So far, it seems they're going with the "ignore it" route. I guess they hoped that he was gone so long people wouldn't really notice the difference. And they've been sticking to really quick and dark shots of him.

But they can't get away with that much longer.

A couple of people I know actually think they did something to alter his voice, to make it sound younger. I didn't notice a change. He sounded like the same whiney Walt to me.
