Yes, it replaced Mine Train Thru Nature's Wonderland. And it opened in 1979.

Also, overall I would say that changeover from Bear Country to Critter Country (including the installation of Splash Mountain) has been a positive change. But then I prefer Pooh (even if only mildly) to Country Bear Jamboree.
