I'm fascinated by this discussion. It must be both a little terrifying to abandon what you've been brought up with yet so freeing at the same time. No matter what path you end up on, making your own decisions about what you believe and how you live your life is, I think, an excellent thing.

I just wanted to update here to say that I no longer consider myself Christian. Too much research about biblical origins I suppose. Not that it matters, I just didn't want all of you running around thinking I was nondenominationally Christian.

Does this make me atheist? Do I get to sit at the atheist table at my next meet?

Yeah, the belief in a God part is still problematic, but you're always welcome at this atheist's table

Oh, when I say I'm not Christian anymore what I mean is that I don't really believe in God anymore. Or maybe I do, but not a God that has much to do with earth. I believe in infinity and that's as close to a belief in God as I'm willing to get right now. Or perhaps it's that I just don't care whether there's a god or not. Maybe I should just sit next to the atheist table and eavesdrop.
