We have two of the ones with the foam pad underneath. We sometimes have issues with an individual pad sticking, but on the whole it's better to have two pads.
It's seen the most use under "workout" or competition mode.

I don't care for any of the home versions. They always skips songs I like & replace them with ones I hate. Plus the home pads don't seem to respond very well (at least not when I use them).
One day I'd like to save up a few $$$ and buy an arcade machine of the 4th mix plus. That was the last release I enjoyed.

The RedOctane Afterburner metal pad had gotten solid reviews. I'm seriously tempted!

Scratch that...I'm thinking, for the money, the Nexen looks pretty good -- although for the price of two Nexen (Nexeni?) I could get the amazing, Arcade-Quality Blueshark. I think I'll start smaller though. And I think since they are in Valencia I can save the shipping costs. I'm going to call them tomorrow. Moonliner, I'll post what I find out!

![]() Soooo, back to the drawing board. I didn't want a Cobalt Flux (too flat) so I went with the TX-1501 which has depressed arrows. I found out that the same maker makes quite a few of the imprints; a TX-4000 (same as the TX-1501 but flat and no break-away cord) is known as an XPG or Blade, and the TX-1501 is AKA the Ninja or GPX-3000, depending on the merchant. Once you memorize the appearance of the pad you can spot the models right away -- which helps find the best price. The naming protocol was verified by ddrfreak.com BTW. So I went with a Ninja -- ranked just under a Nexen and about half the price. They are all over eBay. Happy Dancin'!!
