CP, why don't you rent an electric boat and cruise around newport harbor? It's a nice way to drink wine (or fuzzy water) and relax with friends.

It's have to be a pretty big bonfire to keep me warm in early May at the beach. BTW, you can have bonfires at Huntington Beach as well, in Orange County.

I vote for a weeklong celebration. That way you are open to little things every day or big things, the main thing is to wave the 20's farewell and welcome the glorious 30's (but I have to say, the 40s are awesome).
