Well, Cherney is infected with "The Gay." That may have something to do with it.

I think Duct Taped nipples seems a little wrong when you have had a breast removed.

Is there dye in the DCA lagoon? It doesn't look the scarry green that ROA does.

I've seen the Amy pic. It's interesting. Rather bland, imho.

(I posted the pic in the Parking Lot.)

All I can think of is the tubing and crap they have under the water. They can clean it up and chlorinate it to a fare-thee-well, but can they keep people from hitting things under the already shallow water?

Ever swam the water part of a triathlon? The stuff under the water isn't really so relevant since you're already getting thoroughly thrashed by the people in the water with you.

Really, as I think about it the logistical concern I see is that while they will certainly have a way to get everybody out of the water I don't see any way they can engineer one where it will be a smooth continuous movement like hitting the beach of a pond. And if there is a backup of swimmers they're going to run into trouble pretty quickly.

But I assume (or hope anyway) that they've go somebody experienced enough in planning to be thinking it through.

All I can say is "Hell no!"

I may have done some crazy things in my day but none of them involved anything related to being healthy.

Well, I've done my share of healthy things (though you'd never know it to look at me) but I've steered clear of triathlons simply because of the descriptions I've had from friends who do them about what a horrible experience the swim portion can be if it is at all crowded.

Said one: Imagine trying to swim from Alcatraz to the shore. Now imagine doing it with someone kicking you in the face for most of it.

I know that Disney has been anxious to bring the success of their WDW triathlons to California, but the swim portion has been a huge obstacle. I don't see that they've done anything to remedy it, nor do they really have the time to do any kind of fix. I'd be willing to give it a try sometime, but until I see how they pull this one off - I'll have to pass.
This is a walk in the park. Disney's Sprint Tri.
A big difference from 2.4 mile ocean swim, 110 mile bike and 26.2 marathon. (Kona)
Maybe they will turn on their wave machine.
