I was somewhat hoping that Jeff Bridges would be cast as the baddie in this one. He does evil well.

Disney opened an arcade called Flynn's down in San Diego. It looks just like the one from the first movie with all the same games, including Space Paranoids.

Yeah, I like the twist that ...
Spoiler:
Jeff Bridge's character has been stuck in cyberspace so long, he's turned twisted and evil. That's cool.

Wow, there was no internet, no home computers, no cell phones when Tron came out. Video games, primitive ones at that, were civilians' only contact with cyber unreality. I think that sets the bar far higher for this one, and frankly - the look in the teaser doesn't seem that far advanced over the original.

But natch, I will see it. The original was, imo, really stupid ... but has a fond place in my heart.

That is my intrigue still. Especially now when the lingo is common place, it wasn't then.

Now my tattoos wont be as special

But they will, for a shining moment, be really timely.

Ugh, especially now that I've finally seen the piece of cinematic turd that is Twilight. What a horrible, hORRibLE film.

And a pathetic, retarded stretch on what is even a vampire. Lame, Lame, and beyond Lame.

-and very true to the books.

Which means that those (most of us) of us who liked the books- liked the movie.

So who flipped the Twilight switch?

After months of "Edward" this and Ohhh "Edward that" the entire subject is now treated with utmost disdain in my house.

Not that I'm complaining or anything...

I never read the book - Ken read the first one and then gave it back to the person who loaned it, and told me not to bother. So, we Netflixed the movie once it came out. It was total dreck. For the first half hour, I was like, "Oh good grief - he's a vampire. We already know that's what the movie is about, so please get to it already." But, my real annoyance was when he stepped into the sun. I totally expected him to melt or whatever.... but, glitter?!?!

At that moment, the entire story lost all respect from me.

Although, I wished I had invested in glitter body spray, because I imagine that stuff was selling by the case after that.

I will admit though, that I would have found it remotely romantic when I was 12. I would have loved a glittery guy back then.

So, thankfully, my honey took one for the team and spent the time reading the first book so I will never have to waste the time on it. I still want my two hours back from watching the film.

Oddly, I didn't hate either the books (the first three anyway) or the movie. They weren't great (and the fourth book is truly awful).

Sure, as traditional vampires they were unsatisfactory. But it is kind of like a dish consisting of broccoli, mashed potatoes, and pot roast. You serve it to me saying it is macaroni and cheese and I'm going to tell you it isn't very good macaroni and cheese. That doesn't mean it isn't good.

If she hadn't labeled them as vampires I think a lot of objections to the books would go away. They'd still be mediocre trash but I don't think they're awful trash.

As for Moonliner's girl, fickle is the pop cultural heart of the child.

The books were great - except the last one. Totally enjoyable escapism but not serious lit. I haven't seen the film and am probably not going to. I am pretty disgusted with current film adaptations of books. I'm pretty disgusted with movies in general at the moment.
